Living well with dementia
In Ravalli County, some 3,500 people age 65+ are living with memory loss or dementia. Most are undiagnosed. Most are living at home. They are part of our communities. Dementia Friendly Bitterroot was founded in 2025 with the support of local leaders in government, health services, law enforcement, retail, banking, and more to address this reality.
The dementia journey can take anywhere from a few years to a few decades. In that time, there’s life to be lived! While there is no cure, there are new treatments and approaches that change what it means to live with Alzheimer’s disease, Lewy Body, and other dementia types. But it takes conscious effort to make the most of every day, and that effort increasingly falls to care partners, family members, and friends before professional care comes into the picture.
DFB creates ways for people to share experiences, access resources, and find comfort in knowing that you are not alone. DFB aims to provide support and resources to help navigate the journey, from the earliest days. Join us in finding ways to live as well as possible, for as long as possible, embraced by community.
DFB is the first step in a broader community-based effort to promote healthy aging. It is sponsored by Ravalli County Council on Aging and spearheaded by Good Passage LLC.
